London, UK, 28th Aug 2021. Two classically trained dancers from Catalan dance company Delrevés present "Finale", suspended mid-air breathtaking height. "Dance by Design" performances including Patrick Ziza’s flamboyant celebration of African style, "Dandyism", Ashley Peevor’s experimental composition and "The Lost Opera" keep audiences captivated, whilst "Finale" shows daring aerial and classical ballet with extracts from, amongst others, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, along the façade of the Ravensbourne University building. The Tide, London’s new elevated riverside park plays host to dance performances that are part of Greenwich and Docklands International Festival, and also celebrate the launch of Greenwich Peninsula’s new Design District later in September.
Coal Drops Yard, London, UK, 04th Oct 2021. Dancers Delcio and Nathalie practice Afro dance beats at the "Illuminated Garden" light installation in Coal Drops Yard, part of Kings Cross Design District. The innovative reusable modular design of the installation is by industrial designers Studio Mieker Meijer and uses space frames to create the circular frames.
Guildhall Yard, City of London, UK, 31st Aug 2021. Dancers present "Black Victorians", by Artistic Director and Choreographer Jeanefer Jean-Charles. The performance is inspired by nineteenth century studio photographs of black men, women and children. Exploring a complex, but often forgotten black presence in pre-Windrush Britain, it calls attention to previously hidden figures and challenges historical and contemporary perceptions.It is staged in the resonant location of the historic Guildhall Yard.
